I bought a banshee as a project quad about four months ago. After four hours or so of riding it, it seized. Damage was-snapped crank rod, chewed head (pale white coloring), and blown pistons. The motor is already .050 over. The cylinder walls seem pretty clean (no scars). I think I may get it honed just to be on the safe side. But- Would I need a new crank? Or just a rod, or just to have it rebuilt? Do you think it would just be cheaper to buy a running motor off ebay or something? Thanks.

if you can swing it money wise...get the crank checked out and if needed build the engine you have if at all possible. i wouldnt trust an engine unless you knew the seller....you might end up in the same boat your in now... the SS Blown engine:p

Definetly get the crank checked out. They will tell you if it's worth rebuilding or replace it. I agree with Pappy on the used motor you never know what you are getting.
