Hey guys, my buddy in Chicago just emailed me and said that John Lingenfelter just died:( I don't have all the details but I do know that he was suffering from complications that resulted from a drag racing accident.

Zora Arkus-Duntov...and I don't know if he's still alive or not.

I just read a blurb on the Net about John's death. Apparently he wrecked a sport compact car in Pomona, California while going for a world record (and was on record-setting pace) when he hit the wall. He broke all sorts of bones and required numerous surgeries. He was recuperating quite well until they found out his neck surgery had to be performed again so when he went into the hospital to have this surgery performed they gave him some drug before giving him anasthesia (sp?). He had a reaction with that medication and had a heart attack. He was in a semi-coma for weeks until his death.

My heart goes out to John's family. That man created some masterpieces and was a God send for Chevrolet.

Thanks for all the great stuff, John.

My buddy who used to date some of his relation told me he was still in a coma a few days ago. It's sad to hear, that guy was the man when it came to performance. I've seen some of his twin turbo vettes, and there's a supercharged 1500 chevy of his sitting for sale not too far from my house.

Now I'm hearing from a friend of the family (as reported at camaroz28.com) that a hospital employee forgot to put John on his oxygen for 45 minutes prior to surgery. They pulled the feeding tube a couple weeks ago and he died ultimately yesterday.
