300ex cuts out at half to full throtle

i have a 98 300ex and it cuts out when you rev it past half throtle and smokes it is fine at idle and up to half but after that it sounds like it has a rev limiter maybe it does anyone know anything help me out please

well u prolly have a clogged airfilter and worn out out rings. that my opinion on the matter.

if you have any motorwork done i have heard that you need a rev box to keep it from missing out i am fixing to find out if i need one when i put my 300 back together WEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!

Take off the bottom of your carb and check for a build up of a gum-like varnish. Also, take out your main jet and see if it is clogged, if it is, clear it out. I had the same thing happen as there was some loose debris in the float bowl which would intermittantly get into the main jet and cause the bike to bog down at 1/2-full throttle.

i had the same problem with my 300ex. u have to take off the front fenders, and take off the gas tank. take off the top off the carbuerator, and there is a little piston thing that lets the gas flow, the screws probly poped out, so no gas will flow.
