i think they are effective at keeping the bike cooler. But are a bit over priced for what they are. If your worried about running to hot, id say get them.

they will cool your bike to some extent at higher speeds...you will run no cooler when going slower in tight and techical tracks...if you are always in the top of second or 3rd+ then i would say its a good idea and will help your bike to run about 5-10 degrees cooler

I would say they are well worth it. I was running around 300 degrees and put in a colder plug and added scoops and now am running 250 degrees. and that is on the slower trails also.

Are they all the same besides the price?

I think they work well enought to spend 30-40 bucks on them. and it is a good place for sponsors. the best place to buy them is on ebay. theres several different types on there priced pretty reasonably. just type in 400ex, you will get a huge listing of stuff.

I think they are worth having, but they are over priced.

I paid $40 I think that is a good price. I have seen them go for $70+ on e-bay

There are many different scoops on the market. Some work better than others. I have the xfactor scoops on mine right now but I am going to put the RTC highly polished on my bike soon :D

the plug itself could have done that dusty...u cant say it was the scoops...i bet the scoops gave u 5 degrees less and the plug did the rest

i have been told that the cold plug is only good for around 10 degrees. i have a feeling the scoops did the most. the member "stupid driver" on this site claims the plug made a 4 degree difference on his 426. however, riding conditions will probally make the most difference.

I do think they look cool.

I know im in the minority on this, but I like a stock looking fast bike maybe bumper, bars over a fast looking average/fast bike.

But I dont think i've ever seen a stock red 400 w/ clean scoops(no stickers).

I'd like to see it.......if anybody has one like that.

How did "stupid driver" do the temp test?

Has anybody tested them w/one of those temp gauge dipsticks??

Actually the plug makes a 5 degree temp difference. So I would have to say the scoops made a big difference. Oh and if my word is not what you are looking for then you can call Sparks, he will more than likely tell you the same thing, That is what JE told us also.
I do have a warp drive temp gauge they are very hand, this is how I found out I needed a colder plug and scoops. :)

Temperature will vary with the different design of scoops.

another pic I can see that they are not turning out very well sorry for the quality. Maybe some day I will figure out how to run my camera :(

thx for the pics dusty...im assuming that the temp gauge replaces the oil dipstick? and where did your scoops mount up...to your plastic mounts or to the frame?

Hey Dusty, Im making out a list & will be prob calling you guys next week to make an order, But I can't stop adding to the list of stuff I want.

If you (and everybody else) want to be able to play w/ your pics, download a progam called Irfran view from here:
http://download.com.com/3000-2192-10223761.html?tag=lst-3-8

It's Freeware, only 871K I think.
It's real easy to use & you can lighten, darken, & sharpen your digital pics in a snap.

See
