Well I was tightening in the main jet, and I guess it doesn't take much, because I broke it off in the really big jet. D'OH!!!!!!!!!!! Now all the threads off the 165 main are stuck in the big jet. So I guess I need a new big jet. What is the proper name for the jet, since I will need a new one. Other then that things wen't pretty smooth, since it was my first time jetting my 400EX. What else do I have to adjust besides the jets? I always hear talk about adjusting the neddle up and down but I don't how or where it is. Thanks for all the help! Sorry for all the questions.

In service honda's diagram, they call it the needle jet holder. They want 11 bucks for one too

If ur only problem is that the broke off threads are in the jet holder, take a knife or scissors into the broke off threads and turn it, they come out easy, ive done it a few times before:rolleyes:

yeah, if you can, clean out the threads. however, if the needle jet holder is broke i would definately replace it. this piece makes a difference in power if it is adjusted wrong. the stock needle will have a clip in the 3rd notch. if it is cold outside, i like my needle in the 4th notch. this will raise the needle making your air/fuel ratio more rich between 1/8 and 3/4 throttle.

Thanks, I was able to get the broken threads out. Now all I need is a new 165 main jet. Should I raise my needle to richen it up? I added a Curtis Sparks X-6 complete exhaust and will run a Uni filter will no lid. Elevation is under 1000ft. I also added a 42 pilot, and took the choke out. For a main I will try a 165. Does my jetting sound about right? Thanks again.

your mainjet seems pretty close. i probally would be down a size or two, but the temp makes a difference there. yes, if it is cold i would raise the needle to the 4th position. good luck
