I have a 2003 400ex. The starter button will only work it you press it at the right angle and hold for like 5or6 seconds. IT keep getting worse with time...Is there a way to fix this with out getting a new button?

You can try taking the handlebar switch mount off so you can try cleaning in behind the buttons. If that doesn't work you might need to get a new one.

Go ahead & take the whole thing apart.
You prob got mud/water/corrosion in the contacts, prob because of the pressurewashing.
Shouldnt be too hard to get in there & clean the contact.

You could also use some stuff called contact cleaner and spray onto the starter switch. just my .02

Take it apart spray it gently with either brake cleaner (cover the Quad) or with wd-40 to get the crap out then dry it with some compressed air..... should do the trick....
