Hey guys I'm coming here because basically I'm stumped and can't really think of what's wrong with my dad's TrailBlazer. It's all stock never been touched just had the gas put in it and oil changed. He took apart his carb. and put it all back together but it takes it a really long time for it to start, and you have to mess around alot with the choke. When you rev it and the RPMS peak there comes a big back-fire out of the carb. through the intake, the only thing that I can think of that is causing this is...

1) His intake valve(s) are bad, or his timing is off causing the air to shoot out of the carb and through the air filter.
2) His air-fuel screw needs to be adjusted (Which we have already done.) It starts the easiest at 2-1/2 turns out.
3) He needs a new air-filter.

If any of you guys could help me I'd really appreciate it, thanks.

a trailblazer with vavles? its a 2-stroke...
sounds odd tho.. did it run fine before he took apart the carb...?
maybe he messed somehting up when he put it back together.

Doesn't every engine need at least one intake valve and one exahust valve or am I just retarded?

Yes it ran fine before he took it apart

no, 2strokes have no vavles... just ports in the cylinder...
and it must be somehting in the carb if it ran fine before he took it apart... try taking it apart gain and see if anything is missing or messed up.

Check and make sure the slide is not hanging up. When you took it apart make sure the needle is seated properly, the main jet is screwed in. I am not a motor head but it sounds like you have an air leak on the carb side to me.
