With a WB E-series, if i am running say 8 disks and drop it down to 4 will it make me run rich? or will i not need to worry about jetting when going from different amount of disks?

You'll need to rejet to acheive the best power gains when adjusting the amount of disks on a pipe.

a lot will depend on how your air/fuel ratio is now. i don't run a pipe with discs, so i don't know if adding or subtracting discs makes the bike richer. i don't think changing disks changes the air/fuel ratio a lot, but instead just a little. the temperature, altitude, and modifications will all change your jetting. i always go by what the plug tells me. i then fine tune by how the bike runs against another bike similar as mine.

I really dont think it will make much of a difference. If you are a little rich right now you dont need to worry about it. On my old 300ex i didnt even rejet. I know it was stupid but i didnt.

Fewer disks = Lean, and increase in bottom end

More discs = rich, increase top end

As far as jetting, you just have to try and see.

If removing 4 discs you may have to go down on the main, you may just need to close the air/fuel screw to adjust.

I thought it was the other way around???:huh

more discs = more flow = bigger jets
fewer discs= less flow = smaller jets

or you can just take all of them out like i did.

So most likely i should rejet! Also, will i have to change my pilot since i have a K&N Filter and the Pipe? or will it not lean out in the bottom end?

also thanx for everyones help so far!

the pilot jets are lean from the factory anyways so i would change it. i found the 42 to do what i need right now.

how the heck does more discs equal more flow? i dont think it makes any sense:confused:

If you look at the discs the air flow exits between them. If you was to put on 1 disc the quad probably wouldnt even run at all. The more disc the more square inches of opening, therefore being more flow.

hes right mpore disks = more flow. I think if you have 4 disks then it is the same as stock.

I will prolly have run like 4-5 discs when im at the dunes so i wont get a ticket!

I think running four discs pretty much negates the benefits of having an aftermarket pipe at all.

I run 9 in my megamaxxII and I have read of people here running 12-14 on meganmaxx and e-series pipes.

Yeah, it pretty much does but at the dunes out here the db limit is 93 and I think they are trying to lower it even more. So running few discs helps quiet it down.

With the e-series quiet core installed it shouldnt be too loud w/8 discs.

You mean there are no 2 strokes riding the dunes??

I'll probably be getting a quiet core for mine to keep the noise down if it will really work.

Ther are plenty of 2 strokes but they seem to have a lower db than 4 strokes:huh

Here is some data on sound recordings.....

Shees are the most common dune bikes. A lot of people run Toomey pipes. With the hush kit from Toomey they are around 87-89db. The sound from thumpers carries a lot farther then the noise from a 2 stroke too.

LazeR, you should be okay as far as sound with 6 discs, maybe 8. If you see the sound cops go over to them and have them curtesy check it. I don't think they are supposed to give you a ticket that way. If it is too loud just take out more discs. Or you can do what I do and haul *** the other way:blah: As far as removing discs efecting jetting. It don't a whole lot. When I first got my 440 it had 12 discs in it. I dropped it down to 6 and it was fine.

I dont know if the sand absorbs the higher pitched 2 stroke sound better, but I do know that I can hear my nephew's 2 stroke yammi 80 dirt bike at my house 1 1/2-2 miles away through the woods.
