I have an 88 250r that I had to get a new air box for. My old one didnt have a lid and it was in terrible shape. There is a hole that is on the right side. The old one had it closed up. It is where the intake tubing goes. I am going to be racing cross country. Would I be all right to close that hold up again and run without an airbox or should I close up the hole and get a lid and drill holes in it and put the little filters in the holes. Would I get enough air if I did that.

for Xc you will want to try everything you can to keep water and other debris out of that airbox. a filtered lid will work but id also look into getting the stock snorkel back in place. a small sacrifice in performance but better then sitting for 2 hours in a creek bed watching the race:p

what about that snorkel hole being closed off, with a kandn powerlid. I would also be running a white brothers foam filter, and an outerwear over that
