i have an 03 model 400ex in good condition but when im riding and the motor gets hot, oil starts slowly making itself down the top of the header?? you can smell it. i took everything off like the gas tank and fenders too see and it looks like it is coming from the 2 alan head bolts?? its all around in that area. i dont see it hurting anything i just keep a regualr check on oil but i would really like to know that he problem is. i checked the bolts too make shure they are tight and from what i felt they were tight.

did you ever take your side cases off or anything? they are the carboard like pieces that keep your oil & stuff from slowly leaking out...its really no big deal to fix, someone will answer it further

if i under stand you correctly you are talking about the 6 mm alans up on the cam cover.these bolts hold your rockers-sub rockers they are sealed with copper washers mine was leaking at the rh bolts.i went to 20-50 oil and they stopped sweating.you can warm the bike a bit and reck the torque or give them a little bit of twist with a long allen wrench.i cut my allan to gain access by the frame rails.do not remove allans if cam cover is on the bike.
