Need some computer info.

Im loooking at new computers. my old compaq just not going to make it much longer. i looking for a all around gaming/net surfing computer, the only things that really get done at my computer at my house. i was looking at the dell 4600 and 8300, and some gateways. im looking at spending no more then a grand. any suggestions or any other good computers that are good for the money.

Just got Dell 8300, Windows Xp, with Comcast hi-speed cable hook up.:eek2:

Big difference from old gateway with windows 98 and some dial up.

i have cable and good speed, but my computer isnt running good for the modem.

if you dont mind me asking, how much did u pay for the 8300.
how good does it work.

The Dell he is talking about i think is about 800-900 dolars but i aint positive :rolleyes:

The base model 8300 is 1049$, and I recommend upgrading parts of it (graphics card and RAM in particular) so it will run you about 1200$.

If you already have a monitor and all the peripherals there is no need to buy a full system. Check out www.tigerdirect.com and just buy a tower and save yourself a few hundred bucks.

Have you thought of building one yourself? I did it for the first time recently and I have limited experience in that field. It works too!:p

It only cost aroud $300-400 but I used my old HD, video card and sound card.
