View Full Version : Removing the evil Limiter

Hello. I was just wondering if removing the rev-limiter will help my 300ex get any top end power. If it does, how do you remove the stoopid thing, or is there an aftermarket version I should get? Are there any other Mods you should use in conjunction with removing it?

Thanks:huh

hey you cant remove the black box (rev limiter) limiter is the bigger box and its just a plug that comes out easy. if you remove it it wont run unles you have another plugged in. they do make after market blackboxes. or you can get yours sent to sparks racing or TC racing. they will mod your and take out the rev limiter and send it back for only $75 for sparks and $85 for TC. thanks dude. personaly in on my 330ex i had a modded TC black box and the stocker. i have the stocker because the aftermaket ones dont start as well. well good luck

they don't make an aftermarket box for the 300ex that I know of. You can only have your stock box modded. FST and almost all other engine builders such as sparks and TC can do this.

dont buy that rev limiter mod. There is NO reason you should need one. On a stock engine, or slightly modified engine you will see NO results. Our engines are made to produce power in the given RPM of the rev box. Going beyond this RPM point will NOT make more power.....if anything you will be over stressing the engine for no reason at all. Save you $$$$....

oops, typo.........

but anyways, an aftermarket rev limiter is needed much more on a 300EX than a 400EX, sometimes after only installing a pipe and airbox mods its needed, and its a must on any modified engine

Yes KC is right. the 300ex and 400ex are very different. After doing only minor mods you will hit the rev limiter like crazy and the 300ex does make a lot of its usable power after the stock rev limit, especiallly when you have a modded motor.
