I have only race 1.5 hour XC races and have never had to rely on reserve gas. Does a stock EX usually last a whole GNCC 2 hour race? Or would I need to get an oversize gas tank? Thanks!

it depends on how you ride and what mods you have. i'm a little rev happy sometimes and the stock 300ex i raced at sparta made it 3.9999999999999 laps on one tank. so, if i would have lugged it more, i would have been fine.

3 laps, you will make no problem, 4, i would stop for gas

I have raced in the GNCC stock class on and off every year since 99 and i ran 11races in 2001. And I can make it the whole race on a tank of gas. Just make sure it is as full as it can be at the start of the race.

This year at the Ironman I has to switch to reserve just after the start of the 4th lap, and close to the end of the lap I came up to the famous 30 min. bottle neck, and i was sweating but i made it to the end. was out there for 3 hours total. And when I got home I didn't even have enough gas left to get to the shed.:eek2:

just as the above preson said and it also depends on the lenght of track, whether its wide open or tite. Iraced with a 440 kit and mt. morris two year go had to stop for gas twice. that because I didn't put enough in the first stop. That was a 5 five lap race for me ona ten mile wide open course. Normal I don't have to stop with a stock for a race that exactly 2 hour long anything over that i have to stop.
i don't have stop now I have clark 5.5 gal tank now.
