you need a special tool, go down to ur dealership and ask for it, it costed me like 4-6 bucks to buy it and it works great

Don't even get me started on the spark plugs lol...I found one that was just literally laying on the ground in Home Depot and eyeballed it and took a shot at it and I got it. It needs to be a 18mm DEEP WELL THIN WALL. Must be a thin wall. Mine is a Husky.

I use a Craftsman 18mm deep well with no problems. I don't even think it's a thin well, it came with the 200pc. set I bought about 17 years ago:o :p

I tried both. I ended up taking off my gas tank before I hurt myself or the quad.:p

I have never had to remove the tank to change plugs. The stock Honda spark plug tool works best,I have never been able to use a socket.I'm not saying one wont work I'm sure a thin wall will do the job.Just make sure to get all the dirt out of the way before you take the plug out so it don't fall in the engine(air compresser).Remember don't overtighten the plug and coat the inside of the spark plug boot with dielectic grease...while you got the dielectric grease out coat all electic connections.

Theres a little notch in them. Pry that up with a flat head screwdriver and the middle of the 'popper' will come up. Then just pull on the rest of it and it will slide out. To reinstall just put it back in the hole and push the center back down.

Oh yea, I think most sprak plugs are actually 13/16". I use a 13/16" deep socket for the 400EX and on my CR125.

Take your 18mm deep socket grind the outside on a bench grinder till it fits down in the head,a 1 inch extension will put it at the right hight without removing the tank. And yes it will weeken the socket so you will only want to use it for the plug.Trust me it works everybody always wants to borrow mine.
