A little of both. Everyone was showing up at deer camp this year with new quads, and I got the bug. The Kodiak was getting beat up from being my loaner quad.

tested out the new unit with a few of my lenses today. only bug so far is that continuous focus doesnt like to work fast enough at 400mm focal length....and that leads to a blurry pic:grr: :p

Pappy
12-20-2003, 07:10 AM
it worked a bit better when the subject had a bit more light in the focus area(and cody aint as fast as the dog...lmao)

Pappy
12-20-2003, 07:11 AM
switching to the 80 - 200 lens did the trick with the focus and color balance

Pappy

Pappy,

What settings are you using on the camera? those inside pictures are WAY to dark, especially with the onboard flash from the d100. Also, what do you have the internal settings set to? Put it on auto and start from there.

Also, have you been to www.dpreview.com yet? They have a excellent forum!

Take care! Its a great camera once you get it to work right.

Pappy
12-20-2003, 10:27 AM
yeah the inside pics i let the camera have full control. it sets the iso to 200. i use manly in full manual (put some of my schoolin to work) the outside pictures i will set up depending on the lighting and what depth of field i want to achieve. camera technology has come so far that a first timer can go on full auto and get awesome results.

once i get comfortable with the controls ill play more. i like being able to change every variable with the digital like i could on my 35mm.

im acutaly taking photography right now in school and it takes me forever to setup a shot. meter it, adjust aperature, sometimes change the shutter... PETA... im getting a 97% in it though

hopefully they are teaching you on a full manual 35mm. todays TTL are damn near spot on but in certain situations they just wont get the metering correct.

i cheat...i use a handheld light meter and usually nail the exposure im after. with action shots TTL 3d matrix metering seems to get the most use unless its dark, then i switch to center weighted.

good pictures have always made me smile...no matter who took them:)

very nice camera Pappy. I just picked me up a Nikon N70 with a sigma 70-300mm DL Macro Super zoom lense. should be very good. My first good camera. I plan on getting a digital slr camera once the price goes down a bit..:)

i have a N70 and love it. it served me well and even to this day it gets the call if 35mm work is needed.
