Its pretty easy one you get the hang of it, and once you learn how to do it. Keep the speed above 50 and you will stay on the water. Turning is harder, you have to turn the opposit way, and lean the way that you want to turn, other wise your ski's are gonna catch and your gonna be scuba steve;)

i have hydroplaned water before on my thundercat. I like to keep the speeds up by about 80. I did it off of ice onto an open part but i wouldnt try it without studs becuz my dad seen a guy do it and his track slipped on the bare ice by the water and he went crooked and some how his guardian angel was there becuz it flung him across the the open water to the other side, totaled his sled. It is awesome when you do it.. not hard at all.

I took my dads sled out once when we just got about an inch of rain and all the snow melted on the ice and there was about 4 inches of water on the ice, i went out there and when you reached about 70 with it hammer after gettin soaked the whole snowmobile picked up on top of the water, now that was SICK. it felt fing awesome becuz you could go for a long time and stop and not fall through becuz there was still the thick ice. When it lifted up it felt sweet as hell

i dont understand why all you guys have to go so fast to hydroplane. i only have to go like 30 on mine to get it hydroplaning.

If you have the power under your hood, it is completely possible, and you don't have to be going 50. If you have studs, a decent sled, and half a brain, you can get your skis to the edge of the water and pin it and stay up just fine. Not only seen it but done it. Waterskipping isn't something for just anybody to do; I have seen more than enough guys go down and almost die because their egos were bigger than their skills. I don't really do it anymore because I have wised up a bit and I don't want my $6000 investment at the bottom of a lake, but I have been known to do it from time to time. :)

That looks absolutely insane...... I would be too afraid of lettin my sled sink to the bottom:(

I don't water skip in the winter....cause if I was to go swimming, the chances of dieing are VERY high. I did it all this summer, and if my sled wasn't a 600 tripple, I could pull up to the edge of the water, and take off. One of my old gf's had a '02 Polaris 600 RMK....and I took it out in the sping and found lots and lots of water. I could pull up to the edge, and hit the gas and it would stand almost straight up and down on the water. Pretty sick, but my sled was to heavy to do that. I did sink once this summer, but I shut it off before it went all the way under. No biggie, pulled the plugs, drained it, and the next day I was out there. Believe it or not, I actualy sold that sled;)

and to think the reason I haven't bought a sled this year was because I thought I would only use it half the year.......lol
