Im was watchign Huevos 4 in the freestyle section, i noticed dana creech revvign it out everytime rigth before he landed. Whats the point of that? Seems liek unnesscary tension on the chain/ tranny.

give a little throttle just before you land makes your suspension have a little better dampening by making it fully extended. i think

It stiffens your rear suspension, making the landings easier :D

i know that when i would jump my ex i would rev it before landing because it would make the landings softer because the quad would seem to get momentum and the landings wouldnt be so straight down feeling

also to get the front end up

yah..i do it on my jumps. (which arent very big) & it does seem to give it a little push & keep forward momentum up instead of that straight down feeling...also kicks front end up a little tiny bit.

Hit the rear brake nose goes down, hit the gas nose goes up.

pull the clutch in when you hit the rear brake...dont want the engine to die i9n the air & be locked into gear when you hit the ground...that would be bad

the suspension will only stiffen on a no-link rear suspension....it may only slightly on a 400ex but wouldnt be a noticable difference

when in the air gassing it will bring up the front end (just like if you gas it when your on the ground :p lol)

imo it makes the landings a LOT smoother, and you seems to let you carry more forward momentum like other other people have said.

most pros are trained too do that. i guess landing soft is true but also to keep the revs up so as soon as they hit the ground they are ready to go instead of having too shift down because there in too high of a gear.

its keeps the tires moving fast too when you hit the ground, if they werent moving at all it would be a harder landing. that and the Gyro effect or whatever its called while your in air.

helps the impact of the landing and your back on the gas pretty much instantly:macho

its just the cool thing to do i always hit the brake and gas in the air to move around a bit it jus look more 'professional'

Just like everybody says, it brings the nose up, ect...

Also, believe it or not, it's easier to hang on. Most often, when people crash off a big jump, they go over the front of the bars. They either come down nose first (which is bad), or they land and the back end bounces, pitching them over the handlebars. If you're revving your engine, and the quad takes off as soon as it hits the ground, there's not much chance of you going over the bars.
