Engine Poping

Ever since i put my k&n filter on and took off my airbox lid the engine pops at high rpm. I have a 155 main. I really notice it when I am 5th gear pinned. After i HOLD IT WIDE OPEN FOR LIKE 7 SECONDS the motor sounds like it is skipping a beat. I don't know what it is. Advice needed

hmmm i guess your going to have to just ride it around in the first 4 gears! It will make it easier to beat you around the track then!

Sounds lean to me. Did you hold it wide open shut it off at speed and then stop and check your plug?

Y now I thought it was lean, but i took it to my race shop and he said it wasn't. It was a little whit in the very top of the metal thing.The whole electrode was a dry black color. Is that what happens when you hit the rev limiter? Iwas definitley at top speed. I was going down a road.

all that happens when you hit the rev limiter is you will hear your bike kinda sputter and miss like it isn't gett'n any gas or something,i guess that is all it is i would just say..slow down!?!?! lol

If you put a K&N filter on and removed your airbox lid and you didn't rejet then that's your problem,,,I don't care what your local race shop said,,you need to rejet period,,put the lid back on and see if it runs any better,,you need to rejet though,,,positive on that...your way lean..;)

I rejeted when I put the pipe on and it was running kind of rich so I thought that when I put the filter on it would be running good, but it isn't. So you think it is running to lean? Should I just up the main jet or should I do anyhting else?

Check for exhuast leaks.
