I am looking to upgrade my stock 400ex motor. I was wondering what other people have done and what they think is good. I was thinking of going with either a 416, 440 bore and stroke, or a 440 bore only. I heard that the 416 rev really quick, but the 440 bore has lots of low-end pull. Haven't really heard how the 440 bore and stroke performs. Money really isnt a problem to an extent. Also, who would be a good company to look into for the work. I was thinking of going with LRD or CT, but I am still open to others. Any help would be great. I'm not looking to get the work done until end of the year though, so I have time to decide.

The Most Popular Kit right now has got to be the 416. That`s the way I would go. If Money is not a Problem I would look into a Curtis Sparks 416 or 440 Kit, TC Racing 416 or 440 Kit, LRD 440 Kit, Duncan 440 Kit, or a CT 440 Kit. I would go with Sparks, TC, or Duncan. I would say they are the Most Popular Engine Builders out there.

Www.tcracingengines.com It`s not done. You can`t click on anything yet. You will have to call TC. What kind of Riding do you do?

No there isn`t. LRD, Duncan, and CT are all good. Sparks and TC just seem to be More Popular.

there a trend like fmf pipes. everyone says their good but there not. but sparks and all the ones you listed are good. sparks always seemed a litle expensive to me but what do i know. i've talked to LRD and i think they do great work and if i ver get some money they'll be building my motor. go to their website and read a bit on them.

If you send your Motor to Sparks, TC, LRD, or any of those Engine Builders you better not plan on Riding for Months.

Thats one reason i'm chosing LRD. i don't belive they be as busy as sparks and will have a faster turn around. as for columbia city, how far is that from crown point and N.W area

Do you live in Crown Point? We bought my Brothers 250R in Cedar Lake. I think it is around a 2 1/2 Hour Drive.

oh yea...about that 440 bore and stroke, you better hang on to the bars if you get that. Probably the most poweroutput for the money. It's also expensive. I've seen stuff about stroking at Pro Fab atv here in ohio. www.profabatv.com A regular 440 will be more reliable than the one that is stroked

Thanks for all the replies. I am going to mostly be racing. I'm only doing the local stuff, nothing like the nationals. There are still quite a few riders though. I've kinda been leaning towards the Lrd 440 kit, but i was just curious what everyone else thinks. I don't plan any of the motor mods until later in the year, like around Nov. I wasn't to sure about the 440 bore and stroke. I read in a magazine that Tom Miller Motorsports (TMM) had such a kit, and the magazine tested it and they said that it didn't pull as hard as the LRD kit, that thet tested. Keep replying, I'd like to know about more kits. Thanks, Matt

A guy i race with has a Duncan 440 kit and it rips. that thing is sweet. also, Fischer cycle, in astabula, oh builds good motors. He's building my 416 right now! BUT i am a duncan racing fan, always have been, and if i would have gotten their sponsorship 4 days earlier, i would be getting a Duncan 440 kit.

right now, their will be a long wait for just about any motor builder. If you want to send your motor away, the time to do it is just before winter, when season is ending. I sent mine and Bud Fischer told me that if i would have sent it right after the season, i would have had it in a few days.
