I am either going to get a 11:1 compression piston or a 10:8:1 compression piston for my 416? i want to beable to run 93 but i might mix alittle 100 octane in there everynot and then but probably just 93 most of the time what do you think? how much of a HP difference would there be between 11:1 and 10:8:1? the guy who is building my motor says i should be fine with 93 octane with a 11:1 compression. but what do you guys think?

i would go with the 11:1 it will be fine on that gas...and there will be little HP difference between the 2

If little difference then why not go with a 10.8:1 that is 100% garaunteed to run on pump gas compared to taking a chance with the 11.1 on pump????

I say go with 10.8:1 and not have a doubt in your mind about the pump gas. Sounds like the most logical thing to do..

i had both the 10.8:1 JE in my bike then went to the sparks 11:1 JE...there was a tad bit difference in low end power but i havent really had the chance to open it up yet...i went with the 11:1 because it will have a little more power and i can still run pump fuel and then run race gas for races which will really take advantage of that 11:1...which with my gaskets is around 11.5 to 11.6

They must have some good pump gas in kansas compared to the rest of the US.:eek2:

I haven't seen any better than 91 octane here in over 4 years.

i can get 93 alot of places around here. There's even one gas station that sells cam 2. I don't know what the octain # is on it but I know its high and so is the price on it

either gas in kansas is miss-rated or the 11 to 1 piston was misboxed:devil:

Pappy and Rico, do you guys have 91 or 93 by you? We almost only have 93.

Does the 2 octane increase mean much?

Almost as much as the 0.2 compression difference!

i have 93 and 94 here but it doesnt mean much. they have so many smog related additives that you need race fuel for anything over stock

Pappy are u saying you should be running a mix on 10.8.1 too? What was your 425 running at?

12-16-2003, 11:58 AM
We got 93 here also.

If any of you are dead set on running 11.1 do it. Run the hightest pump gas you can in it and let us know how she does.

As I mentioned before, of the 90% of people that have answered this question they all said their 11.1 comp. piston did not run well on straight pump gas(93 octane or less).

I don't know for a fact that it doesn't but if 9 out of 10 people say 11.1 and pump gas don't work, i'm gonna trust the 9 and not the lonely 1 person..:)

Mine runs just fine on non-reformulated 93 octane gas which is what they have here in Louisville. But mixing it with 110 does help and running straight 110 in it makes it feel like a different motor...:eek2:

It pulls harder on the mix and straight 110.

the 425 was only ever run on 110. rick told me it would run on pump gas (10.8 to 1) but knowing how crappy the gas is here i stayed with the good stuff too avoid trouble.

my wife just reminded me that all my stuff runs on 110:o lawnmower...chainsaws..weedwackers:rolleyes: lmfao
