Why? I'm not knocking the 2-strokes, I love them too. I'm just curious why like every sled made (except for two models) is 2-stroke. Thanks!

It is wierd because in sleds 2 strokes run perfect and almost never have problems. Maybe because they are all oil injection.. Oh why they are is because Alot lighter then the 4 strokes, MAJORLY faster. I mean alot more horsepower.

Because 2-strokes put out more power:D

You will be seeing a lot more 4-strokes in sleds. The disadvantages are weight, size, and cold oil flow problems. Have you ever tried to start a 4-stroke quad when its been outside in 20-below weather all night long?

Yamaha's RX1 sleds are fast in a strait line. But they handle poorly in corners, don't take moguls worth a damn, and my Pontiac Bonneville is lighter.

its cuz 2 strokes are lighter, put out more power, and run better in colder temps.

Exactly. Also, someone mentioned that they always run good. Thats because they re jetted for the cold weather. (Normally) ou don't find many people runnin their sled in the summer time. So, they never mess with the carb. hey just leave it and wait for the cold....

Whoever said something about seeing alot more 4-stroke snowmobiles was correct! Arctic cat came out with a sled called a T660 Turbo!. NOt even as close to as fast as the F6 two stroke, but its gettin there. They are tryin to make the 4 strokes just as good as two stroke so everyone switches, better for the enviroment, etc... The RX1 yamaha sled is a pretty fast sled in a long straight away. But everyone is looking for alot of low end and light and great handling trail sleds, which 4 strokes are too heavy to be much of that. But mark my words, give it a while and 4stroke snowmobiles will take over everyones money!

I ride a 2002 Arctic Cat 4-Stroke Touring, kinda gutless but they're nice for trail riding

How more more would would you say the motor weights in the 660 turbo then in a F6?

A straight T660 turbo, not a touring edition weighs about 575lbs according to AC's website. And an F6 without efi, and not a snopro model weighs in at 460 lbs. Big difference. Plus the F6 has an estimated 10 more horsepower.

2 strokes are just known for there power! Look at it like this.

250R - 2 stroke 250cc <--right? or close to
400ex - 4 stroke 398cc<--'' ''

both are stock and the 250R would probably win the race! I raced a 250R on my 400ex...and it was close till we both were in 5th...and he still had another gear.....and would pull ahead a little bit....i dont think his jetting was right though
