View Full Version : more exhuast area problems(300ex)

when ever i ride the 300ex the exhuast like crackels and pop's and the crackling and poping is coming from the header not out of the silcencer also i think there could a little oil leak could i be just putting on the pipe wrong or... i mean i just bought a new gasket and that dint fix the problem anyone no what could possibly be wrong?

is the bike stock?? are jets stock?? try describing the situation a little better. i am a little confused. is there a crack in the header?? is the header clamped on tight??

It could be one of two things..either your jetting or you have an exhaust leak. Make sure you check where the silencer and the header meet. This connection must be tight.

I agree. You either have a leak or your jetting isn't right. The Sparks is a one piece exhaust though so it would leaking where it connects with the head. Make sure that is tight.

Could it be that your carb boot is leaking from either being loose or cracked causing it to be lean?

There is a possibility it isn't seated correctly at the head. I would take it off. Put a fresh gasket in(make sure the old one is out of the head) and tighten it well and double check that your carb boots are tight and not cracked anywhere. If that doesn't fix it I would take it to a shop and have them diagnose it for you. Good luck.
