After a long mounth, that checking EX and WARRIOR.

I'm still a bit confused.

Guys told me EX will be better, tho slower/weaker.
tho EX is lighter and better for MX and my weight which is 120LBs.

and EX parts are cheaper, and easier to get, and warrior getting to garge a lot.

So just want to know if I'm buying EX 300 1996.

and want to put on it a 400EX engine, what should i do
Should i do that?

I want more power + speed.

for dunes jumping etc..

don't forget I live at Israel and can't get all the parts or new model.

Kthnx, sagi :)

First of all the 300ex is not weaker. If anything the warrior is the weak one. The 300 is much lighter and easier to toss on the trails. The warrior is only faster because it has one more gear and a few cc's. I would get a 400ex if at all possible but the 300 is a good machine too. You can't go wrong with Honda's reliability. The 300 would also be a better jumper because it's lighter. The warrior tends to be front heavy.

Not sure if the 400ex engine will fit in the 300 frame though. I'm thinking the 400 motor is too tall. I could be wrong though. Hope this helps.

By the way welcome to the site!

First, thanks for the welcome, seems like a thight forum!

Hmm.. I don't know if I really need 400cc engine.
I mean, I don't do race speeds or anything.

Need it to be fast, not going over 60-65mph anyhow, tho fast is nice, Jump well, claim up dunes and hils easily.

I can get a 96 EX300, tho ex400 is not an option.

Not sure if I should even replace the engine?

Maybe I'll take that EX300 and change a bit his bore and stroke into 330cc, will add exhuast of fmf, air filter, jumps into it

Will be good nha? not sure i really need that 400cc.

Whould like to hear more options

Thannnnk you, sagi!

I think you would run into fitting trouble trying to put the 400ex engine in it...for what you are doing I think the 300 will be good, you'll be hitting around 55mph with a stock setup

you could just get a high compression piston, drop in cam and an air filter and exhaust and it would run pretty good for a 300ex, an all out 330 would be to much of a money waste for what you are doing

Not planning to pay any money, just change the bore and stroke my self, done it before for ski jets.

Worth changing bore and stroke for another 30cc? don't think so.
My dad says i should just keep the 300cc engine, add air filter, pipe, and cam.

Whouldn't race with it.

Just for fun at dunes dude...

Is 300cc with all mods I said gonna be good at dunes, and mud?

Any other mods you guys offer, which won't cost like a heck of money?

Will like to hear your voice too ;-)

Thannnnnks, sagi.

I would just go with the pipe, filter, etc... on the 300. It should be fine for what you ride. I've never rode in sand but I ride plenty of snow which is similar and with good tires mine does very well. I don't have too many problems in the mud either. As long as it isn't too deep. I clocked mine at 63mph on my GPS so it's plenty fast with the pipe and filter. Good luck!

Go with the 300EX!!! I beat warriors about every weekend at the races w/ mine:D Mines a 96 also, w/ the mods on the bottom of page, thinking of going 330 also we'll see though. I race w/ a gal w/ a 330 kit in hers & that baby sounds soooo good & she pulls me on the straightaway but I'm right on her butt the rest of the time, she kind of a wierd rider so it's hard to get around her she's very sloppy I guess you could say, but I'll be ttrying harder next race. Welcome to the site & good luck

Start out w/ a pipe, filter and jet kit. That should be good for the kind of riding you're going to do. That's all I had on my '02 and had no problems beating Warriors. The 330 wouldn't be a waste of money though, if you are wanting to get more out of it. :D

remember if you get a 330 thats not adding only 30cc's its actually adding 48cc's becasue the 300ex stock really only has 282cc's. am i correct?

If you are going to do anything at least do the shocks, then the a-arms and axle, add a steering stabilzer. then spend the time and money on the 330. When you do the 330 kit you have to put in a larger sleeve so you must take the old sleeve out of the jug and machine the jug to take the new sleeve. Then you have to machine the new sleeve.

While you have it apart replace the clutch and have the valves done and new springs added along with valve seals and drop in a good cam ground for dune type riding. Don't forget to get a cdi without a rev limiter.
