anyone ever notice that the 300ex, in all its terdness, seems to excell at mudding. it may not be the best, handling, the fastest, or the stabilist in the air but i always feel confident on my ol 3hundg when some slop gets inb the way. its not a grizzly or nuthin but for a sport qaud its pretty good, just wonderin if enyone ever noticed it

i find the 400ex's to be better in mud and deep stuff. my friend's 300 is wider too with wider tires so it dosent get stuck in ruts as easily, but my 400 still does better.

go ahead and play in the mud like that....you will be sorry....bearings is all i gotta say....80.00 for 2 bearings, and another 10 or so for dust seals....and if you continue to ride with shot bearings...there goes your axle carrier....160.00...trust me i know i used to go thru bearings on my old quad like nothing....if you want to play in the mud...get a 4x4....

I've had my 300ex up to the rear fenders in mud and water.and made it out.You just got to rock and use alot of body english.I run razr's and they work pretty good.

So far I haven't gotten the 400ex in any big holes. And I don't plan on it either. But you never know.

And TC is right. If you ride in mud alot you will ruin your bearings. My 300 has been down for a while because of this. But if you wanna play you gotta pay.

your money, your quad, your problem, you break, you fix....after having a 250x that i constantly played in the mud with...and saw what it does to bearings, carriers, chain, bushings, ECT....i do not put my 400ex in mud holes....

Hell yes. I love my 300ex in the mud. Ive only gotten it stuck once, and the mud was up to the seat. Took me 2 hours to dig it out.

My 250EX does very well in the mud, most likely because of its utility background with the Recon. As light as it is, you can do anything you want with it. I have 20" Razr's and they still do good in the mud.

I've always wanted to put Recon plastics and stuff on it so it would seem like a badass Recon. I am seriously thinking about getting a 4x4. Highlifter has revolutionized the whole concept and makes it look very good. It's finally possible to pimp out a utility quad!:D

I have to agree with you, they are also great in snow. Me and my friend went riding the other day, and we were busting drifts up to the handle bars. I was pretty impressed with how well it did in the snow.

i know what ur sayin buddy, thats the main reason i sold my 250x.. THE CARRIER WAS SHOT! i went thru bearings every month er so.. when i get my 450r, shes not goin NEAR the mud pits.. :D

pure insanity

ok, maybe i dont know ride in the same type mud you guys do, but this sounds like a load of horse crap to me.
my 300ex got buried so bad on its maiden ride it took 3 4x4 quads to pull me out. since then it has beem in the mud on every ride ive been on since it was new in 2000. i have yet to replace the first bearing or carrier or anything that i didnt crash and damage.
my 300ex rules in the mud, i usually lead the way thru it.

The 250ex will out mud any 300, or 400ex. Thats a fact i can proove, got lots of pics of my going right buy 300ex and 400ex in the mud many many times, dont get stuck much niether, not with those big rear tires and the light frame ! Hell, ive even gone threw more stuff then my dads 450 foreman and rubicon, while they get weighed down, i blow past em lol. Ill see if i can get my friends scanner to show you guys some awsome pics, i got lots, just bare with me !

And to those of you who are worried about getting dirt in your bearing etc... stop cryin and get dirty.

syrus...of course you aint worried about bearings...all your bearings and stuff are sealed up....and u have a shaft driven bike.......retard....ull find out when u have to replace the bearings and seals in the rearend of that 250ex tho...i have a 1999 recon that i used to play in the mud with jus for the hell of it..and last year it costed me 300 dollars or more to replace every last bearing in the rearend of that bike, from the driveshaft back all them bearings had to be replaced....
