WIll running cam 2 in my 400ex help much. Also how much hotter will it run since it is a higher octane.

higher octane gas makes u run cooler...not hotter...depending on your compression it should cool you down at least 5-10 degrees...lower the compression more cooling you will get...not really great to run it with a stock comp piston tho

i am not really understanding your question. a stage 2 hotcam will not change your compression rating. the fuel is what changes your octane ratings. with just a stage 2 cam, you won't need to run higher octane fuel unless you have a high compression piston. the bike won't run hotter with just the cam, the high compression piston is what makes it run hotter. the higher octane fuel is what cools the bike down after installing a high compression piston.

Cam2 is race gas, not the hotcam stage 2.

Run the lowest octane fuel you can get away with. If you're not pinging or knocking with 87, run 87.

they are right, higher octane gas runnes cooler, but if ur running race gas in a stock motor, you really are waisting money!

i run the blue cam2 in my bike. but i mix 50\50 to get around a 105 oct or so. but that isn't necessary if your compression is less than about 10.8 to 1 or so depending on piston and gaskets. all the race fuel is used for is to keep the engine slightly cooler but mainly ... race fuel has lead in it thgat prevents you cylinder from knocking. use 87 if you can, but your wasting money if you go over 94

i was told u can burn up your piston from running race gas in a stock motor..... if u do u have to mix it 50/50

read the replies to this thread... why would you even run 50\50 in a stock motor??????:confused2
