well last night i finally talked my mom into letting me race. i will just be doing local tracks. i was wonder what i need to do to start racing and what all is manditory to have like nerfs, tether, boots... etc.

Not all tracks require nerf bars, but it's recommended. Get a Pro-Design tether switch. Any protective gear you get is a plus. Boots, chest protector, gloves.

o my bad...i feel dumb now :p u NEED nerfs, and of course a tether. those are good things to have, and proper ridin gear

I've run Switchback, Challenger several years ago, and a couple fairs. I'll run some harescrambles and a couple GNCCs next year. Proably hit a couple fair arena cross, maybe Westmoreland. I'd like to get some flat track in, too. I usually run the Butler Fair flat track, and Blanket Hill in Kittanning started running quads again.

For XC type racing are nerfs are a good thing to have?

A good thing to remember is to be PATIENT!

Learn the tracks, take your time, do not ride over your head....with practice you will only get better!

Wear as much protective gear as you can....there are only 3 types of riders...those that have crashed, those that will crash, and those that will crash again.

1. Do I need a Title and/or insurance on my quad?
2. Do they assign me a number or can i just put on any number i want?
3. Do i have to join AMA or anything?

you will need to join the ATVA get the comp. membership.you can put your number on.on your first race ride smart if someone is faster just watch there lines an learn dont ride over your head ride smart'be safe'have fun
