I currrently have 22X11X8 CHENG SHIN'S C-828 FOR REAR TIRES. I have the opportunity to get 22X118 Turf tamers used for $25. They are in decent shape. I would like to get them ,but I am worried that they are not good for the type of ridding I do. I mostly trail ride, loose gravel, packed trails, not too much mud but some. I also do some hill climbs. Are they bad for this type of riding, and should I just stick with the tires I have on now, on is anything better than what I have on now? Oh yeah, I am not looking to get new tires now, or eLse I would probably get the ITP'S OR RAZR'S, but I had the opportunity to pick up these tires cheap, so what do you think?

The turf tamers will wear down fast, I would just save up for the itp's or maxxis.

At that price you may want to grab them for a back up set in case you lose one of your current tires. Just a thought.

yes save your money turf tamers tread is designed for loose dirt and easy to slide with good foward traction. They are a mx tire and they have a really soft compound so that they grip better but wear faster. razr or itp's would be better for what you do.

Actually turf tamers are for hardpack. that's why the knobs are so close together. Don't get them unless you only ride on a track. You could get them for spare tires though.

well it would seem that it would just "dig in" on a very well groomed race track with somwhat loose black dirt???

Tammers are the best bang for you buck. I run them and i ride trails and every where with them. they don't wear as fast as your all saying they do.

Turf tamers are a really, really good all around tire. But they do excel on hardpack.

I suppose you have to take it for a ride every once and a while to make sure that old timer still runs, eh?

*edit: sorry if I sound like a canadian, I just realized that. Must be over coverage of them on the olimpics or something!
