'86R fur $3000?

ok I just found a 86 honda 250R for $3000obo (Canadian)
It's piped ported and polished and says race ready but around here race ready isn't the same as race ready down south. but any whoo.

I've all ways like 250R's but my dad kinda likes four strokes bedder.
I think that he kinda whants mee to get some thing like a 400ex
but I like R's bedder.

any whoo how reliable (sp) are they?I know that 2 strokes need to bee rebilt more that four strokes but how often? 1 a year? It wouldn't bee raced excpt for once and a wile I go to my friends track and I whant to start raceing but any way any idas on
convinceing my dad?

id deff buy it though for that low price... 3g canadian is like what american money, like $1,500-2,000? anyways thats a sick seal if its in decent shape, even if the chassis is stock
