i have a 400ex and was wondering if any of the parts from a new 450r interchangable with the 400 ex?

From the looks of it and what I have been told. The front end is different, the swingarm is the same, rims are the same, front bumper, grab bar from a 250r, but untill someone actually has one we won't know for sure.

The thing that I am most interested in is the shocks. A lot of MX racers will prob dump the stock ones (as good as they are) for aftermarket (like Elka's, etc). I'm hoping that the 450r shocks will bolt up to the 400EX with little to no effort. Hopefully these will be on Ebay for under $200 per end. Hell, stock 400EX shocks go for next to nothing even in like new condition (well under $100).

I have been told that the 450r shocks are longer by a 1/2 inch. so they won't work on the 400ex.

Why not? Can't the A-Arms just "spread" another 1/2" to accept the shocks? Samething with the rear. Provided that the swingarm has play to swing another 1/2" closer to the ground (open more), then why wouldn't it work assuming the mounts are the same or close (possibly different bushings but I doubt it). Sure the quad might sit up a hair higher, but 1/2" or less is nothing. Maybe I'm just missing someting here

Silverfox is correct with everything she has said.

Shocks are longer
Front end is different - so your aarms will not switch over
Swing arm is exactly the same to a tee.

I am for sure on this.

from what Elka just told us the swingarm linkage is different than the 400ex.

I just saw one at the motorcycle show and while I wasn't really paying attention to see if the swing arm was the same it seems it was compeletly different. The dimensions may all be the same and the mounting points and such may be the same but it looked different everywhere in between as I recall. It seems my bro. was makeing a comment about it looking more like a YFZ swing arm.
