stage 2 is more for top end and stage 1 is for bottom end and midrange power. stage 1 is better for woods and moto x. stage 2 is good for drag racing and racing where more top end is needed

1 is a bottom to mid cam and the 2 is a mid to top cam like stated above for xc your best choice will be the stage1 but stage2 would be a better choice for mx

I've taked to Colby, and if I'm not mistaken, he told me a stage 1 is for a stock bike and stage 2 is for 416, 426, 440 etc...

Just what I remember...

i think you can actually run either cam in either bike. what colby was getting at is that the stage 1 will perform better with a stock bike. when you build up to a 416 etc, the stage 2 will perform better, given your riding conditions are in more open area. if i rode in tight trails, i still wouldn't want the stage 2 even with a built motor i don't think. the stage 2 i love, but i need the rpm's to be up in order for the power to be there. in a drag race, yes i prefer the stage 2. i have rode bikes with stage 1 and 2 cams. the stage 2 bike seemed to pull much harder than the stage 1 bike, but the stage 2 was running a 10.8:1 vs the stage1 bike's 10:1 compression.

Is better suited for low compression, stock engines. Unless you can consistently run the engine at 5000 rpm and higher or you have a big bore (416cc or bigger) I'd run a Stage 1 for your situation. The Stage 2 and a 416 cc engine is a great combination and, if the head is ported it's very good with a 426cc engine.

thanks for the replies. I think I'll do Mickey's 1 layer head gasket and high temp rtv base gasket and a stage 1 hotcam.
