Does anyone know what the tps is doing on the 450r? Does the CRF450 have it? Is it really telling a computer position of throttle or is it like yamahas version of T.O.R.

I think the tps is monitored by the cdi to adjust ignition timing to the optimum setting at any throttle position for the best power output...

Are you sure? How does the cdi use the info from tps? im old school so kinda confused. did the cdi grow up to be a cpu?

I'm sure it is stll a CDI ignition. It doesn't have to be a CPU to be able to take more readings than normal. The yamaha T.O.R.S. system doesn't use a TPS. It is just a switch in the throttle housing and on the carbs so that if the throttle sticks it won't overrev the engine. The TPS sends a signal to the IGN. so that it knows what position the throttle is in so that it can optimize the spark advance.

This CDI box is much more advance than the old school boxs of the 400ex it really does change timing depending on the throttle postion. the crf uses the same type of box
