I'd like to know what's a good tire for ICE?
I'll be riding close to 1000 miles this year if weather permits.
Last year I had stock tires and the studs came out. I'll
be riding against some fast guys and I'll need any advantage
I can !! I've invested in some carbide tips and all the tools to install them. I'd like some advice before I waste 1200 carbide
tips on the wrong tire. Thanks !!

Gotta say thanks to the people on this site!! I'm a happy to
be an ex owner cause this site is the best source of info there
is!! Keep up the great work!!!!!

there exacly like turf tamers, but there are no holes, and i think ther 6 lys, so you can stud them with 3 inch ski doo pins if you want:blah:

I have been ice racing for maney years & I found out that you have to have a tire with a very hard rubber compound[to hold the studs in better]. "Cheng Shin" tires have worked the best for me.you can get them from Dennis Kirk 1-800-328-9280. & they are priced very fair....

The CHENG SHIN Knobby? I've heard they were pretty good to stud. What about fronts? I was leaning towards the Knobby, but a friend said turf tamers. I agree The harder the tire the better the studs stay in. Let me know what you think a good front tire is? THANKS!!!!!!!!!

Use Cheng Shin C826 tires in back. I had good luck last year with Holeshot MX fronts with screws. The V pattern of the lugs works well in the front. Otherwise, just use a hard compound front tire.

I used 22x11x8 GBC Ground Busters from Dennis Kirk. Very hard rubber compound and they hold studs very well.

I run the chengs, but there are some duro flat track tires that mite work niceeeee they have staggered triangle lugs and big spaces between the sets so they would work good in snow kinda b/c they are somewhat paddleish, ill try to find a pic, cuz they mite be the hookup

the cheng shin c826 is the only way to go and when you put the studs in put them in slow so you dont bore the rubber out and dont put to many in either for i found you want a little rubber to still touch the ice.I use kold kutters or the gold screw 5/8 long .

Thanks guys, I believe I'll be lookin for C826 for the back. I still have my stock tires I'll try and stud the fronts. If anyone knows
ice tires its Wisconsin and Minnesota riders. I love going to BLACK RIVER FALLS ,WI to ride. If the snow holds off, were getting a group together to go the first week in January. We may to go to DUNBAR to ride? Gotta love Wisconsin if your an EX owner! This fall we had 27 bikes from the Milwaukee area ride at Crawford Hills ATV park. It was A BLAST!! Thanks again for all the post !!

skip the screws! get a crappy pair of rear tires, tubes for them and but about 40 snowmobile ice studs in each, I've been ice racing for 3 years now the guys with those are always the champs, for the front just use ice screws.-darren
