well we just put in the tecate topend, i went to start it yesterday, and it started about the 4th kick, so i rode it a little, wow, once the powerband hits it FLYS;) .

but i didnt want to ride it too hard. SO i dropped it off at my house at like 2:30, then it sat in my driveway in the snow til 11 at night when i was done snowmobiling

And it would not start last night and it still wont now...i have nothing to ride and all my friends are out already...i really dont wanna miss the winter again...last year it was cause the blaster blew up and now this

ok, i didnt beat it, it has a crap load of compression, and spark, with a new spark plug, i sprayed the last of my starter fluid and it still wont go, im going out now cause i put in new pilot jets...hopefully that just fell out.

but please help i really wanna break it in

its probably just really cold dude..my 330 would never start if it was left out in the snow...get it in a warmer place..let it sit, then try to start it

all of it is...i tried starter fluid...a new plug (has spark) pulled the carb boot to the filter so it is open to the air...re cleaned the carb and jets...nothing...it just wont fire

pour some gas down the spark plug hole... My cr250 always needed to have that done a cupple times and then the gas would finally keep on comin and warm up.. TRUST me it will work

you mean the spark plug isnt sparking? hmm.. maybe your timing is off.. either that or its just because its a kawasaki:devil: No im just kiddin, i know how it feals to sit home while your friends ride and sit out in cold weather waiting for it to fire upp anxious at every kick. well i dont know what it could be but good luck

try heatin your spark plug up till its red hot at the end and then quickly put it in and try it

May sound stupid, but is your gas turned on? Maybe you have to play with the choke a bit to get it to start?

Fuel vent hose clogged? Is the plug getting wet like fuel is getting in the cylinder? Are the reeds damaged? Try fresh gas???

its prob 2 cold (go get the blow dryer) dude put it in ur garage and keep trying to start it ((dont leave it in the driveway))

400exbiggun
12-06-2003, 09:30 PM
it was in the garage all night...it only sat outsid ein the day

we got it started...my step dad pulled it behind his little accent...lol...that was a sight to be seen

after that i really did not give a **** about breaking it in...man i was flying downt the snowy roads then i hit a clear spon and hooked up....HOLY CRAP:eek2: it takes off...im confident it will easliy top out at 70mph range

after that my friend let me ride his old crappy sled:rolleyes: ...but oh well...only after begging and then i had to pay for my gas and his 2 times...came to around $40 and then i didnt even get to ride it cause his dad yelled at him cause it was getting dark

i also found out who my real friends were today...none of the people i go riding with, there was 4 kids there...of course im the only one not sleeping over...no one would drive me home cause the tecate AGAIN would not start, so i had to call my mom at 11pm to tow it behind the accent again, meanwhile the entire time getting laughed at cause i have a POS...so right now im kinda pissed and after i start to recieve my parts and i kick there *** in drag races...they aint riding it

lol sorry for my life story...just had to vent:blah:

WTF can you say, cold weather, not gettin the enough gas becuz its COLD outside, you see the key word is COLD and when it is COLD you engine does not get enough fuel so you put in a bigger jet when it is cold and he doesnt have one in so you put some gas down the spark plug hole and it gets it all circulating. And yes i can say flooded

isnt it a two stroke

400exbiggun
12-08-2003, 05:18 AM
yup its a 2-stroke...and i had the same problem comming home...and now it sits in my garage...just waiting to start.

But 1 thing at my dealer i got plugs a while ago, he asked if i wanted 8's or 9's i said i dont really know so he gave me the 8, so i guess that the 9 is a hotter plug, do you think that will help and make it run better? i think i might pick 1 up today before school...2 HOUR DELAY...hehehe, i dont go in till 11:30:blah:

TheX1992

its worth a shot. experiment with other plugs too. what color was the plug after you ran it? that will show if you need the 9 or not.

400exbiggun
12-08-2003, 02:12 PM
let me start from the beginning now...i was running a 32:1 ratio, and ppl said no run a 40:1, so i ran that. I just called my dealer and he said no that i should have used a 32:1...uh oh  :(

he said dont use a hotter plug also...so now i gotta go drain the gas and run a 32:1...also he said to comp check and make sure its over 100psi...so i have to borrow a comp gauge now
im just hoping that its cold

some one said the timing might be ooff i thought they didny have to time a 2 stroke

12-08-2003, 02:28 PM
when i was 8, i had this little yz80 that my grandfather bought for $75 and we fixed it up. took long as hell to get it started for the first time. we spent about $1000 in new parts to get it to run but it was fun as hell.

400exbiggun
12-08-2003, 02:36 PM
well im hoping nuttin is wrong topend wise:(

but how could timing be off...i didnt touch anything but the top-end...idk

also like my warrior and xr80 have about 2x's a bigger spark than the tecate...are they suposed to be that small or is the coil f'ed up?

This really sounds like low compression. Could be a number of things like blown head or base gaskets, or rings that aren't sealing. This will make it real hard to get started. The 8 is a hotter plug. 9 is a cooler heat range. There isn't that much difference between 32:1 and 40:1. I run 40:1 in my two strokes with synthetic oil.

if there isnt much spark try cleaning the stator and inside the flywheel make sure there isnt any rust or corrosion. if the spark is still weak then its the coil

yea there is timing in a 2-stroke......otherwise it wouldn't run, timing is when the flywheel gets to a certain point and the points open up breaking the ground (or something like that, someone should correct me and tell it like how it is:rolleyes: ) and it causes electricty which travels through the condensor into the coils into the spark plug caps to the spark plugs...blah:blah:

and maybe the rubber pads on your flywheel are wore down by rust so your point gaps are opening up? but you said you have spark so that can't be it....maybe your timing is just off? look at your flywheel and check out when it sparks and where the line is....

aight guys and gals, my friend is comming over with a compression gauge...so we will see, hopefully we see some high numbers:rolleyes:

i just remembered...lol...i ahve another dirtbike, i know we pulled a coil off a lawnmower to work on our 3-wheeler, so i will test the d-b coil too...hehehe
