The top screw near the top reservoir of the rear shock controls your compression damping. This is ultimately how stiff or soft the shock is for jumps and big stuff. The bottom of the shock has a tiny slotted screw for the rebound adjustment. It controls the rebound of the shock. This is how fast the shock returns after it takes up a hit. Making the rebound too high will cause your rear end to bounce up a lot after landings. Making it too low will cause the rear shock to pack over bumps and whoops making it too slow for it to recover fast enough. With shock adjustments, it is a trade-off. Just play around with the settings until you find that sweet spot in the middle where everything works the way it should.
