are you happy with that 416 kit? what compression ratio you running? can you notice a great increase in power or what is it better in the bottom mid or top? also what does the entire kit include...? and is it wise to get a cam? thanks for your help.

If you get anything larger than your existing bore size, like a 416 in your case, you will need to have the cylinder bored. ($$$)

The aftermarket lighter weight piston will make a noticeable improvement alone. You will feel a more responsive improvement if you go with a higher compression piston too, but that may come with a price of having heating problems and the need for race gas. Those with a stock exhaust will most likely need an aftermarket to work well with the modifications.

My 2 cents... Since you have a 2002, I would recommend a higher compression "stock bore" piston, like a 10.5 to 1, 10.8 to 1, or 11 to 1, and an aftermarket cam since you will be going into the engine. This will make a noticeable improvement without the downtime, expense, and possible need of race gas.

Good luck!

k thankz

uh dude...boring isnt expensive...like u r makin it sound...sparks boring is $60 and a local shop can do the job for around $40...and u will have no problems with heat with nething under 11:1 or 11:1 itself...and yes it makes a huge difference...and yes i would go with exhaust and a cam along with a port/polish to help ur 416 be a power monster...with this combo u should see an entire powerband increase...i would also recommend a new carb such as the FCR 39mm or just a boring of the carb done by sparks or rocky ridge...along with this i would reccommend a rev box...not because it gives u more rpm range but because it also alters your powerband...giving you more power in key positions...this setup should give u the most power for the least amount of money...i am very happy with my 416 kit...there is no kit that i kno of...i bought all of my parts seperate...but im sure someone makes 1...u would just have to look for it

I agree with you 100%. Thanks for saving me some typing... Anyway, the 416 bore is going to give about a 1-2hp gain right there, if you ask me a $40 bore at a local shop is the way to go, you are going to have to hone the stock cylinder anyway. I would also do a hotcam stage 1 or 2, slip on or full exhaust, airscoops, bore the stock carb or get ab FCR39MM. If you want more power then you can port then head later. As far as price my buddies both had 416's built with 11:1 JE, Stage 2 hotcam, basic port work, boring the cylinder and everything was $800, that included all gaskets to do the job and some other little odds and ends. If you are going to build a 416 I would at least plan on putting $600 into it, with no port work it would come out to around $600.

I might be a little high on the prices, but once you start doing it and add taxes and freight, it comes out to more than it works out on paper.

ya it will be around $400-$600 with no porting...me and my dad did my own so that saved us a good $300...he has been working with cars and 4 wheelers for over 20 years so that helped quite a bit...we did a bad@$$ job on it 2 :D

In the case of "WhiteBros400ex", having a near new atv, would it be recommended to hone the cylinder even if he was to keep the stock bore?

i'm not sure what you mean there, but if your saying if he sticks with the stock bore does he need to hone, the answer would be yes anytime you install new rings even if it on the stock piston or another one you have to hone, this is a must in order for the ring to seat if you don't then you might as well have just thrown you motor in the crick

Yea i run the stock header on my 416 with a wide open e-series. Just for reference i'll give you the prices on my kit.

JE 10.8:1 Piston kit------------------ 120
Hotcams stage II-------------------- 125
XR gasket kit------------------------- 40
new jets----------------------------- 10
Cylinder Bore------------------------- 50
oil and oil filter----------------------- 15
Labor--------------------------------- 0
Approxamate total------------------ 360

This is basically it. I am gunna bore my stock carb and port and polish the head eventually but the setup i have is really snappy and pulls hard from idle to 9000 rpm.

I think you should port the heads and get a FCR39MM, pick up a used 39MM on here and send your heads out to be ported.
