OK. im not sure if you guys get this question alot but i am thinkin about buyin a truck off of ebay. i was wondering what i need to do in order to not get screwed. the reason for buying off of ebay is because there isnt really anything good around here. there are a couple probs though. at the moment i dont have a car so i cant driver cross country to check out a car. then. also what would be the best way to get a truck from another state. i think shipping is expensive. im guessing the only way is to ahve someone drive or we can fly, or train or whatever and check it out then buy it and drive it back. the only prob is what if i get there and i dont like it. also i dont know THAT much about trucks. i know the basics but i cant really tell if its about to take a dump. another prob is i cant be takin trips all teh tie across teh us. lol im only 18. so any good suggestions would be GREAT. thanks for the help. i need as many replies as possible. thanks

OK, first of all don't drive it home. You never know what shape its in until you get it home and can check all the fluids, brakes, tires, etc. It's not worth getting stranded over. I purchased a Mustang on Ebay about 8 months ago. I had it shipped through AAATCO and it cost about $735 from Las Vegas to Portland, Ore. I went through shipvehicles.com and that was the cheapest shipping quote I received. Also if your truck is that far away (across the country) its not worth the shipping cost. Only buy from a seller with a bunch of positive feedback and that would be willing to be flexible with shipping arrangements. Such as being able to deliver the vehicle to the shipping terminal or being home when the truck came to pickup your vehicle. There are also services on the internet where a certified mechanic can check out a vehicle for you before you buy it. As for not getting screwed, Ebay has policy about sellers misrepresenting their product and you are protected from that. Check it out its under the help section in Ebaymotors. If you have anymore questions just ask.

i would never buy a car or truck over ebay just because you cnat here the engine run or test drive it. Those two things can tell you a great deal about a truck. so unless you can have someone go and take a look hear it run and test drive it for you than definitly dont do it.

I've sold a few different vehicles through Ebay, and haven't had any problems with it yet. Like the others said, if its more than 5-6 hours away, its not worth it. I had a guy drive 8 hours to buy an Escort off me, and he did a good inspection of it and drov eit home.
Just because you bid on a car and win the auction doesn't mean you HAVE to buy it. If you go to pick it up, and its not what the seller said it was, then they breached the contract first. Make sure you have a print out of the auction with you to show them where they were misleading and let them know that you mean business.
Also remember, just because there are no "good deals" on Ebay that are local today, doesn't mean there won't be next week. Don't settle for something less just because you're in a hurry. Good luck!

Have you tried www.traderonline.com there are plenty of trucks in Cali. I don't think it is worth buying out of state once you add in shipping and all that. Im not sure but aren't emissions different for other states I know CA is pretty strict so you might have to spend on that too.
