I changed the gearing around on my banshee, minus one tooth front, and +5 in back. Alot of change, Iknow, I just realized how much it was. Anyway, it feels like the top end is higher. I have to shift really fast, but when I get it topped out, it really feels faster than before the change. I know bigger back sprocket= more bottom, but wouldn't also give more top? I thought hard about it and it makes sense, but maybe I'm going about it all wrong. Anyone know?

The only way your top end could be faster now is if your engine didn't have enough power to rev as high with the old gearing as it does now with the lower gearing. This is also the same reason you can gear up for a higher top speed, then actually end up with a lower top speed (because your engine can't pull the thigher gearing). The change you made is about the same as going down two teeth on the front sprocket. This is about a 20 percent gearing change, which will equal about a 20 percent LESS top speed at the SAME RPM as before.

Good luck,
Lorrin
