I've been using Castor 927 the last couple of years, and like it. However, I just discovered the specific gravity is too low for VP race gas. :( So I'll have to find out what mixes well with the race gas. Any advise on this?

Klotz r 50 and super techniplate both work fine with VP
I ran mine mixed at 40:1

Ok, thanks! ;) I've been running my LT at 32:1, I have a Cool head with a 19cc dome. One thing I noticed, even when gas prices fluctuate, VP stays at 4.39 a gallon where I get it! What a deal...

I wish it was that cheap here! 5.25 is the cheapest here
I mixed mine at 32:1 when I got the quarts but with the smaller bottles it takes a little more than one and it was easier to dump the whole bottle in four gallons!! No measuring:)

in our stock banshee we run golden spectro, mixed at 32:1. it runs awesome, it rarely fouls a plug, i change the plugs prolly twice a year at most.

I'm almost sold on the Redline 2 stroke oil. It's working well so far. But hands down, Belray H1R 2 stroke oil IMO is the best off the shelf oil out there.

I use Klotz Supertechniplate with the racey odor smell. Aaahhhh, nothing like the smell of 2 stroke in the morning!!!:D

12-03-2003, 06:27 AM
i dont ride a 2-stroke but i use yamalube. i did put 2-stroke oil in my quad once and it burned it, it started burning up my spark plugs alot quicker so i stopped using it. and yeah 2-stroke oil smells good, i love the smell of it

I am not happy with the Belray 2 stroke oil locally people were fouling plugs left and right and we told them to try the amsoil and have not fouled a plug since.

we ran belray in my kx-80 and we wern't a real fan of it, i have amsoil now, but i wanted to see other options...looks like i'll be getting maxima. But there is NO place near me at all that has that, so i ordered 2 64oz things from RMATV, but im going to buy some klots tomorrow to use until the maxima comes

I ran RedLine for a while, but I got a sponsorship at my local gas station, and they are giving me CITGO gas and oil, so of course Im using that. Its 110 octane fuel. Seems to be working great! 32:1.

AMSOIL when i switched to it in my sled the performance gains were awesome, and their 4 stroke oils kick @$$ too

I run the maxima castor 927 at 32-1, I have always had consistant jetting with this oil. It does build carbon up fairly quick though, which will lead to carbon build up on the exhaust and pipe. this will result in a loss of power if not cleaned regularly.

if you want to run maxima For a power valve I would suggest the k-2 it supposedly runs super clean.

I have a new bore and just finished up a case of castor 927 so now I will switch to amsoil synthetic. I will also switch my ratio to 50:1

after the switch I will hopefully have good knowledge on how clean it burns.

I know golden spectro is very dirty, I used it when i first got my bike and it fouled plugs alot.

yamalube just plain sux

We usually run Castor 927 with a 32:1 all summer but in the winter we swithed to a new one( I cant remeber what kind:confused: ) and mix 40:1 and see how it runs ......:) We have been very pleased with the 927.... Also had good luck with Belray

Honda HP2 or Yamalube are all we ever use. The Yamalube IMO is probably one of the cleanest burning and it shows when doing a tear down.

We run 50/50 with either CAM2 or VP C12 :)

I used to run Klotz until I tried Champion Water Pumper. I'll never run anything else again...

i run amsoil in 32:1, dont foul plugs, and it smells decent

BTW. all oil seperates from gas after sitting for a while, that is why you shake that bad boy up till it looks like blood in my amsoil case, or antifreeze if its green, or whatever color yours is

I was running castor based oil for a while. Then I was told not to. Castor oils cause a lot of carbon build up and will leave a varnish on the sides of the piston if the jetting is a little off. It gums up rings and PV's. I don't know if redline is castor based but I am very happy with it. I was getting a lot more life out of a bore.

I have ALWAYS used MC1 on my 2-smoke toys. The thing i like most about it is that since it is synthetic and something with the way its made, you can run it 50:1!!!! Even if the machine says 16:1 or 32:1 or whatever, you still run it 50:1. 1 Bottle to 5 gallons of gas...don't get any easier than that.

On the PV....Bel-Ray also has H1R which is just like MC1, but it is specially fomulated to work with power valves.

Bel-Ray...GOOD STUFF

I liked my 2 stroke, but I just got tired of rebuilding it.

I run Honda HP2 in every two stroke I own and run it as 32:1. Hond designed it so that it burns clean for use in the CRs so that the power valves don't get carboned up and sticky. I used it exclusively in my '98 CR250R and when I sold it in '01 I had never had to clean the power valve or replace the top end. You guys changeing ratios remember when you go from say 32:1 to 50:1 your jetting will go richer due to less oil and more gas and the opposite if you go the other way.

Castor based oils will thicken and not mix well with gas in colder temperatures, you shouldn't use them below 40 degrees or you risk engine damage due to lack of lubrication. The synthetics are a better choice.

You guys need to find some different suppliers!

1 Gallon of CAM2 (purple 110) leaded cost's me $3.25
1 Gallon of VP C12 cost's me $ 5.00

VP is a little better fuel but the CAM2 from Sunoco is fine for what we use.

FYI - Be careful if you think you need 110 octane gas! The CAM2 is Sunoco GT100 marketed under a different brand (see Sunoco website) but they are both exact same formulas. I was buying at Mid-Ohio and it was only rated at 100 octane using the (R+M/2) method. I just don't want you to fry your piston thinking it is 110 if thats what you really require...:D

I run VP Ultimate 4. Its somewhat of a specialty fuel I guess. Oxygenated, smells like paint thinner, will take pitch off of a car window, and it adds 6-8% hp. It smells real good after you burn it, too. :macho

What is the differance between that, and normal 110 octane fuel?

Its an oxygenated fuel. This means that the fuel mixture has been specially made so it is "packed" with oxygen. And more air = more power, same reason you add a turbo or a supercharger, more air. It adds more air per part of gas.. pretty trick stuff:devil:

Donnie, I think I may have to give that stuff a try one of these days:) Take a run up to the Vp fuel center... I'm scared to cause I know I will get hooked on it; haha
