I don't have either but i'd say thew cooler is better. I'll probably get a tank first though due to the fear of the dreaded drain plug breakage.

i dont have either one, but from what i read the cooler will actually make your bike run cooler where the tank won't do much for the temp. the tank will give an extra quart of oil though.

FST oil cooler. Your EX holds plenty of oil, it's just that stock the only oil that gets to the top is already hot. Last I looked, FST's cooler was less than a swiss cheese tank.

Another note, IMO I don't think the cooler is really neccessary on a relatively stock motor. Once you start the Hi-comp piston, boring, stroking, there is a different story.

Maybe Mickey Dunlap will chime in?...

If you are stock I dont see a problem with just air scoops. If you are worried about heat get Mickey Dunlap's cooler for $110 and you can send in your clutch cover and have him tap it to accomodate the cooler. If you want to look cool and hold a quart more oil get a $200 tank

Didn't notice (or look really) that your bike motor has only bolt ons. I agree with JOEX, you shouldn't need either one if it's running right and jetted correctly,.........unless it's for looks.

I belive it is the head that gets tapped.

Both the head and the clutch side case are tapped with the FST cooler. But yes, Mickey has said on here they will do it for like $20 plus shipping.

Get the cooler. Any half decent machinist will be able to install the fittings, or send the side and rocker cover to FST for $20. The cooler is much cheaper and more effective, and it also adds about 1/2 quart to the system.

i agree. i had a machinist buddy of my to tap both and the system turned out great. if you ride hard in hot weather, even a complete stocker with get hot. personal experience. but for avrage temp look into scoops.

Im going to buy the oil cooler from Mickey and have him tap it and run scoops for my 426, but for a stock motor, scoops are fine.
