All, I was wondering what you thought of the following bikes. I am looking for all pros and cons. Currently, we have a 250 EX and would like to add one other one to the family.

Honda 400 EX

Polaris Predator

Suzuki Z400 (I think)

I've found the price to be about 4900 for the 400, 5400 for the Predator, and 5400 or so for the Z400.

I plan on doing no mods to the bike(s) and will be doing mostly family type riding.

Thanks- PS

Personally out of those 3 I Would take the 400EX all day long. Especially for just family type riding. They are so reliable it's not even funny. You can take it to a track beat the crap out of it for 3 motos, bring it home and putt through the yard the next day. They are great quads. Low maintenace also....

Well since you are doing family type riding and not doing any mod's I'll go as far to say you dont want to do major maint either. The 400EX is bulletproof and requires very little maint to keep it running. Change the oil, add gas, check the spark plug and lube it up. She'll run forever... The other quads mentioned will require a tad more maint and I'm not sure if they have really proven themselves as being as reliable as a 400EX motor.

Just my $0.02.

For family related quad, I personally would go with the z-400. The 400ex is a bulletproof, reliable quad and is also great for the money. However, some people in your family may not want to get off and push it if they get stuck and they are not holding their value. The Z400 has reverse and seems to sit a little bit higher, which may or may not be a benefit to you. The predators are fast and have great stock suspension but are a little too heavy and having some transmission problems from what I hear.
