factory Honda hands down. It may cost a little more but well worth it. I work in a bike shop and am glad we don't have to deal with the Clymer or Hays manuals. For Honda factory is the way to go. Yamaha on the other hand leaves a bit to be desired.:rolleyes2

Clymer or Haynes are good if you arent a very good mechanic, because they give you little tips and tricks to make the jobs go smoother. Factory Hondas cover EVERYTHING, but its in a staright forward step by step manner.

If you want a clymer manual there is a seller on ebay named wyomingben that sells them on christmas special for 18.50 plus shipping. I bought a 300ex manual but he probably has one for a 400 also.

I guess you have a point there to an extent. The Honda manuals have more info in them and more specs. It seems the others will sometimes give you just enough info to get yourself into trouble too if you don't know what you are doing.

I have to agree with 2004TRX450R on this. Being an Acura tech I would say that Hondas shop manuals are the easiest manuals to understand. But for the average Joe servicing his wheeler the Clymer will do.

I was able to replace the inner piece of casing on my 300ex when I was 14 with the help of a cylmer manual...so they can't be that bad :p

heres 2 shots of the 400 clymer manual, electrical diagrams i used so I could rewire my kill switch, start button, headlight assembly etc.

 Ouch! Bellvue sucks. My In-laws live on W.Lake Sammamish. I hate the traffic up there, its a mad house.
We should hook up for a ride some time. Where do you normally ride?

i cant say which i like better, cause ive only ever used the honda manual, but id say go on ebay, buy the manual on cd and then print out the pages you need. ive got the real manual, and i have one on cd, and i find myself using the one on cd more cause i dont want to get drity prints all over my good manual, if i rip it or mess it up, i'll just print it out again

well my bro lives up off forrest road off of coal creek parkway and the traffic going into Issaquah to work is pretty good. Now if you were headed west bound it would really suck. It is kinda nice that it is a lot closer to work than when I lived in Covington but I don't like that the truck just barely get's warmed up by the time I get to work. I usually ride in Florence, OR. I haven't really found anyone to ride with around here yet or where to ride around here. The sand is my passion but I love getting all dirty once in awhile too. I just don't like haveing to clean the bike when I'm done. I will be getting my TRX450R as soon as it hits the dealership and am planning a dune trip on the 13th. I think we may go to Florence but might just go to Moses lake. I haven't been there before but my bro. has and he said it sucked but at least it would be somewhere to go ride the new ride.

Well if you ever want to go riding local or try a poker run LMK. As for Moses lake, yah it sucks compared to Florence, but its only three and a half hours away.

Pm me with a price you would take for the 02 400ex. My riding buddy is starting to look for a bike for his fiance.

I shot you a message. I would like to get $4500 out if it if I can. The bike is prestine! I would be suprised if it had over 15 hours on it and it was mostly riden by a beginer so it hasn't been beat on. The only place you will find one nicer is on a showroom floor.
