Hey I am taking the wiring harness off my engine and the engine out of the frame and have a couple of questions. How do you get the wires that connect into the engine out? One goes into the left sidecase and one goes to the starter I think. Do they just pull out or do they have to stay in? Thanks

Just unplug them from the frame wire harness. Don't bother takeing them out of the engine. You do have to disconnect the starter wire from the starter but the rest you just unplug.

yep, just unplug them. Make sure you have a service manual handy just in case. And be sure to keep all the bolts and stuff organized, it is pretty easy to lose one of them suckers.

ok so just leave them attached to the engine and disconnect them from the wire harness? Thanks

i disconnected the wire that goes to the starter, on the starter. THere is a bolt that you unscrew to take this wire off. The other one, which goes to the left crankcase cover, i took off at the wire harness.

another tip for keeping stuf organized is to put the bolts back in the holes they came out of after you take stuff apart. That way you know exactly where they all go.

correct

the wire that runs into the left side of the engine is connected to the stator...the wire that runs to the starter can be taken off by removing the nut
