Hi, I have a 416 JE piston, it has a copper colored ring (compression), a black colored ring (compression), and 2 oiler rings..........I'm guessing the black is the top one because of the square ring profile..........Is it he black ring the top????

Not sore about you case but on sum pistons the ring only fits in one groove. check if one of the rings is bigger then the other one.
440 is right usually one ring is thicker than another...try sticking both of the rings into each of the top gaps on the piston

The thiner ring goes on top, then the thicker black one then the oil rings
Make shure the little N is facing up on the top 2 rings its hard to see on the black one
