built 400ex, what plug gap??

do you all run the same spark plug gap on your built engines?? i know many, as well as myself, run a colder plug. however, is it beneficial to use the biggest gap or smallest gap recommended in the manual??

It mainly depends on your ignition system. If have the stock coil theres no reason because your not giving it any hotter spark. All the after market rev boxes just change the timing curve, on the other hand I got an MSD ignition where it comes with an H.O. coil that puts out twice as much voltage as stock and box so I needed to open my gap quite a bit. I had to go from .026 to .045 gap. Hope that helps
