well i am building either a 416 or a 426 ex. its goign to have a stage 2 hot cam with 11:1 compression. now how much more HP with the 426 have over the 416? the only reason i don't want to go with the 426 is becasut the cylinder walls are bored to the max. and maybe melt down. also which one is more reliable? and the head is going to get poarted and i think heavy dutty gasket kit.

Don't worry about the cylinder melting. It won't "melt", there is just a very slight chance that if your jetting is really whacked out and your octane is too low that you can burn a hole in the sleeve or crack it.

There is only about a 1-3HP gain overall with the 426 compared to the 416. They are both reliable.

Yea there is not much difference in power. The 426 will give you a little bit more bottom end because of the larger displacement, thats all. My 416 rocks and i recommend it to anyone. If you look at my sig i have basically the same setup that you are looking for. PM me with any questions.

I got a 426 built, but the only reason I did a 426 was because after this one wear out, I want to resleeve and go to a 440, if you want to be able to bore it out again wihtout resleeving go 416, if thats not a concern do a 426, and of course the 426 is going to make a little more heat. I have a stage 2 cam so I want all the bottom end I can get that why I want the 426.
