on a 400 ive heard you dont need the header until you do heavy motor mods

so i would go with a nice slip on, cam or maybe a carb

The full system shows very nice gains even on a stock motor.By the whole thing now so you don't have to buy it later when you do more mods.Next I would suggest a 416 piston and XC cam.(JE or Ross and my personal favorite TC XC cam).

What does the advanced key do? I know it advances the timing, but, how does it feel? How much are they?

I would search the for sale forums and pick up a used pipe(cause thats what I did. I got 1 HMF full, and 1 Sparks X-6 both were in great shape and I got them for cheap. I like the Sparks better for MX and the dunes, but the HMF seems a little better down low for trail riding and still gives good mid to top. I would pick up a stage 2 hotcam for like $140 or whatever the are now. Then after that do 416, etc, after you get more $.

Yeah look in the for sale forum last year i picked up a x-6 pipe and a fcr carb for 500 bucks. They wont work to there full potential but you will have them for when you get more motor work done.

i would get a cam and piston for yor price limit. even with a stock exhaust, i bet the cam/piston would do much more. mine did anyways. you will be able to do a cam/piston with gaskets and the boring for under $400. all you need is the manual and you can install it yourself. then get an exhuast when a little more cash rolls in.

i know yo usaid "power" but if you dont alrerady have aftermarket suspension I would highly reccomend that before anything else...you caqn only steer as well as you can hang on to the handlebars ;)

For that kind of money you could probably do a high compression piston and a slip on and see very good gains.A pipe alone will only give you 2 or 3 hp at the most but adding a piston with that pipe would probably get you 6to 7 hp and that would be quite noticeable.

i would highly suggest getting suspension before you do any power mods. It will make you so much faster, even on a stock bike. Then, save up and do the motor mods. Start w/ a pipe/piston/cam. then later on get the fcr carb. im gettin ahead of myself:D

A HMF will give anywhere from 2-6 hp gain depending on rpms. thats just a slip-on too. the full system is about the same in gains. for the money it isn't worth getting a full system unless you plan on doing engine mods.

Put your dollarswhere it counts...in the heart of the Engine!

Spend a hundred on a used slip on like an e-series or t-4...take the 400.00 you saved and build back up to 500.00 or so.

Now you can get a High compression piston and a Cam for some real gains!!!!...

Then blow out that slip on and get a Sparks x6! :muscle:

Here's your face when your done...:D

You could send the money to me for a weight savings advantage. I'm sure all the extra cash has to count for at least a couple of ounces of weight. :blah: But anyways, kidding aside, I'd go on ebay and buy yourself a decent slip on muffler, then go to magicracing.com and buy their powerpack for your quad. That should keep you under $500 but still give you a decent boost in power.
