newby question

I want to race locally mx next season. Do I get a number assigned, or can I choose my own number if I stay novice?

Around here you just slap number on your bike and if someone else has the same one and signs up before you you put a x next to it with electrical tape.

I think that's basically how it works. You pick your own number, so long as it doesn't conflict with somebody else's number. I'd suggest staying away from the single digit numbers like 1, 5, 7 or such, they are just too common, I bet they are all taken. Go with at least a double digit, possibly even triple digit. It's not likely that anybody has the number 437

well when my stepbrother raced he didnt have any number at all and they got black tape and put like three x's on his warrior
