Maybe I'm not the best to be giving advice because I've never raced myself. However, I'll give my advice anyways...

Don't go all out to win your first race, you could really be in over your head. I'm not saying just idle around the track, but take it easy. I would imagine, even if you are familiar with the track, it becomes a whole new ballgame rubbing tires with other people trying to take the same lines. Maybe don't go for the holeshot your first race. Maybe stay near the back of the pack and get a feel for the race before you start fighting through the corners and taking unfamiliar lines off the jumps. Maybe pass a few, maybe GET passed by a few.

Learn a little bit about the environment you're in before you go balls out.

Its a hell of a lot better gettin made fun of for being at the back than goin to the hospital on your first race

Besides, you can't hear them laughing at you over the engine and with your helmet on! ;)

Wilkin gave you good advice, ride as best as you can, but not over your head. It will take you a few races to get a feel for it, and observe the good guys. also remember... stay to the right!

Good luck, have fun, and don't get hurt! :D

Some advice that was given to me by a top rider.

Get fast on the ground and the airtime will take care of itself.

Confidence, commitment, consistency.

Smart and slow is one thing, dumb and wrecked is just stupid.

Analyze everything, you'd be amazed where you can make up time.

Just my.02 man. It has helped me a bunch. I am not even that good, but I learn a lot by watching the fast guys. Each race I learn something new. Oh yeah, don't forget to breathe....I swear I used to hold mine for a whole moto, lol!:eek2:
