I HAVE INSTALLED A BIG BORE LA SLEEVE THERE IS NO LONGER A RECESSED AREA FOR THE O RING ON THE BOTTOM NEAR BASE GASKET.THE SHOP TOLD ME TO REASSEMBLE WITH THE ORING STILL.WHAT IS IT FOR AM I SUPPOSED TO USE IT STILL.SHOULD THE NEW SLEEVE HAVE BEEN MACHINED FOR THE ORING THANKS

Someone please correct me if I am wrong, but I am pretty sure that you don't use the oring with a 440. A base gasket is all you really need anyways.

a lot of people leave them off after a rebuild 440 or not. i put mine back on, i thought about leaving it off, but thought what the hey. it wont hurt any thing with it off.

it seems like the o-ring wiill interfere with the laydown of the base gasket.what is the o rings job.seems like if i assemble with it it will get squashed between gasket and mating surfaces.not uniform. also decked .007 to true cylinder will clean head mating surface with glass and fine paper.do you think i will have a problem with cam timing.
