Hi,
I don't really know if this is the right forum, but oh well:) . I am thinking about purchasing a quad (most likely used) in the near future. I have never owned a quad, but I have ridden quite a few (never anything faster then a slightly modified warrior).

My question is: is the 400ex right for me? Right now, I can find them the cheapest, which is a plus since I don't make a whole lot of money:D . Since this is a honda forum, you guys will most likely recommend a honda, but be honest. Is it worth it? Or, should I go with a z400, raptor, or something else. Also, I don't think that I will be going for the yfz450 or the trx450 since I heard they are definitely not for beginners. Please tell me your opinion. Thanks!

400EX is a great all around quad that is bullet proof in design and reliability. If you want an affordable sport quad that can be modified to the moon... go with it.

I agree.

Even though I have been riding for 12 years. When it came time for me to get a new bike. There was doubt that I was going to get a 400ex.

I ended up getting an 02 bonestock. In excellent shape for 3700.Even though I was looking for a 440.I found this one and fell in love.It was yellow like I wanted and it was in such good shape.

I have watched my buddy pound on his 02 400ex since the day he bought it brand new.Still fires right up and runs like new.

And as far as power. If you liked a modified warrior you will love a 400ex.I also have a 250r.And if I had choice of only having one bike in my basement.I think it would be the 400.

it depends, look at it this way, if you plan on racing long term and want to attempt to make it big spend the extra cash on the yfz, if you wanna trail ride, and race occassionally and just play and have fun get a 400ex, low maintence, best bang for your buck and durable, you can always mod em

Thanks for the replies. I forgot to ask something though. I can find 250r for around the same price or cheaper then 400exs. What one should I go for? I like 4strokes and the fact that the 400exs are newer, but the 250r are better powerwise. What about suspension, stock vs stock? Thanks.

pretty much the same stock, modded the 250r is faster and better handling but make sure you know what your doing before you get into 250rs

Any 2 strokes take pretty much maintence around the clock you have to know what your doing or you can have a big mess out of your quad.....
